I really feel like this outfit is quite a deviation from what I usually wear but I love it. When I saw this shirt in Sainsbury’s I just fell in love, even though it’s not my style. It was cheap, it’s cute, it’s summery, just delightful. I got it a couple of weeks ago but wasn’t able to wear it straight away as I didn’t have a) any jeans that fit or b) a plain skirt. I went on a mission to find a plain, non-mini skirt, preferably in a pale colour for summer outfits. For some reason, my first move was to buy a black pencil skirt in Monki, which I returned the next day as it was not at all what I wanted, and from there I strolled to Primark, hoping they would deliver. And they delivered. For £1 I got this perfect silky-suedette skirt in duck egg blue. I would have paid the original price of £10 to be honest, but I handed over my shiny pound and got exactly what I wanted.

When I posted this selfie on Twitter I got more compliments than usual on my skin, which was extremely satisfying given that I used some new products today. I went kind of… wild last week and bought quite a lot of new stuff, all of which is excellent and I have no regrets about, but it was definitely A Thing. Two items I bought last week were the Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder in Light and the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Sun Dipped. They arrived yesterday, I tried them for the first time today and I’m honestly so delighted. I know a lot of people say this about the Sculpting Powder but it’s the first product that I’ve felt made me really get contouring. It perfectly recreates the effect of shadow and brings out the structure of your face in a really natural way. The cold tone makes it feel more authentic and less like a muddy makeup look. The ABH Glow Kit is another real cult item, and I just loved the look of the new shade. I have a highlighter I like (The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer) but I was really taken in by the sleek, almost liquid metallic sheen of the Glow Kits. I got Sun Dipped and am wearing the shade Moonstone on my cheekbones, cupid’s bow and the tip of my nose, with Summer on the highest points of my cheekbones, and a light sweeping of Tourmaline over my blusher. I usually apply Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder all over my makeup as a finishing powder but today was the first day since I’ve got it that I thought I could do without. I also wanted to see the effect of the ABH palette alone, without the boost from the Hourglass powder, and I’m so impressed. This lipstick is my one true red love: Sephora in Always Red.
