Last autumn in Montréal, Marianna and I were shopping for birthday presents for Emma. Obviously when you go shopping for someone else, all you see is stuff you want. But this time it was different. I saw this jacket and my love for it was so great that I told myself ‘I won’t even try it on, that way I can’t get attached to it and want to buy it’. But Marianna made me, and squealed with delight at its beauty. So I bought it. It was $60 well spent and I wholeheartedly thank Marianna for making me try it on, and for convincing me that I would not rather have the $60.
